In this illustration, we will calculate cement, sand, crushed stone, and of course steel for a given water tank. Here in this article today we will discuss how to calculate materials quantity f circular RCC water tank. After reading this article you will be able to know the material estimation of circular RCC water tank.

Given Data for water Tank

Here we have two diameters: the external diameter of the tank and the internal diameter of the tank.

External Diameter of water tank = D = 5.30  meter

Internal Diameter of water tank = D1 = 5 meter

Depth of water tank = 3 meter

RCC in base foundation = 30cm =0.30 meter

Slab thickness of water tank = 10cm = 0.10 meter

Wall thickness of tank = 15 cm = 0.15 meter

We used here  M15 Grade of Concrete (1:2:4)

Sum of ratio = 1 + 2 + 4 = 7

Use of steel 2% of RCC (Concrete volume)

Solution

External diameter of Tank (Total Diameter) = D1 = 5 + 0.15 + 0.15 = 5.3 meter

The internal diameter of the tank = D2 = 5 meters,   Here this diameter of the tank is without the 2 wall thickness.

RCC volume of water Tank (wall) = V = Area of RCC work x Depth of tank

Volume =    π /4(D² – D1² ) x 3

Volume = π /4 ( 5.30^2 – 5^2) x 3

RCC work Volume  = 7.28 m3

Volume of water Tank Slab = Area of Slab x thickness of slab

Volume =  π D² / 4   x 0.10 = π /4 x ( 5.3 ^2 ) x 0.10

Volume = 2.206 m3

RCC base foundation volume = Area of foundation x depth of foundation

Volume = π /4 x D² x 0.30

Volume = 3.142 ( 5.3 x 5.3 ) 0.30

Volume = 6.61 m3

Total volume of RCC work = RCC water tank wall volume + water tank slab volume + Foundation RCC volume

Total RCC volume for water tank = 7.28 + 2.206 +  6.61 = 16 m3

Steel Volume for water tank = 2% of RCC volume

Steel volume = 2/100 x 16  = 0.32 m3

Now Different Materials Quantity

Total volume of RCC works

Convert Wet RCC volume to Dry materials

Dry volume = wet volume x 1.54 = 16 x 1.54 = 24.64 m3

Quantity of cement = proportion of cement / Sum of Proportion  x dry volume of Concrete

Quantity of cemtn = 1 / 7 x dry volume = 1 / 7 x 24.64 = 3.52 m3

Convert it to cement bags = Total volume of cement / volume of Cement bag

No’s of Cement bags = 3.52 / 0.0347 = 101.44 say 102 No’s of Bags

Quantity of Sand = proportion of Sand / Sum of Proportion  x dry volume of Concrete

Quantity of Sand = 2 / 7 x dry volume = 2 / 7 x 24.64 = 7.04 m3

Quantity of Aggregate = proportion of aggregate/ Sum of Proportion  x dry volume of Concrete

Quantity of Aggregate = 4 / 7 x 24.64 = 14.08 m3

Now Quantity of Steel We Used 2% of RCC Work Volume

Quantity of steel = 2 / 100 x 16 = 0.32 m2

We know that Density of steel = 7850 kg/m3

Weight of Steel = Density of steel x Volume of a steel

Weight of steel = 7850kg/m3  x 0.32 m3= 2512 kgs steel are required for above water tank.

Note: We can also use the same formula to find out the quantity of the material for the rectangular water tank. but there just the Shape is a rectangle and we have to find the volume of the Rectangle shape, just the shape changes, therefore, to find the quantity of the material just used the same formulas which i have discussed in the above water tank.
